This part is what I consider at the chorus and it is rather quite and says 'Our hopes and expectations, black holes and revelations' and repeats this twice. The next 'sub verse' starts with 'But I'll never let you go, if you promise not to fade away, never fade away' which means that he will always remain faithful to her so long as she also keeps her undying love for him and so now what started as a song about space has almost become more 'love-like'. It then goes on to say 'lets conspire to ignite, all the souls that would die just to stay alive' which hardly makes any sense at a glance but I think that the first part goes with the whole revolutionist theme or igniting something or starting it off and the next part could mean something to do with sex, because he loves this woman who he is singing about and wants to be with and he says 'all the souls' could be sperm cells and 'that would die just to feel alive', either refers to the fact that out of billions of sperm only one survives and so billions of 'souls' die for one 'soul' which is special or it could refer to wasting sperm because of the use of the word 'feel', it could suggest that 'all the souls' are again sperm but instead of all dying apart from one being 'alive', through wasting sperm he is 'feeling alive' which can also be seen as meaning 'feeling good' or enjoying oneself. The next verse is rather cryptic but starts off by saying 'My life, you electrify my life' which could mean that 'you' makes his life exciting and/or is the reason that he wants to live on the run from the 'people who care if I live or die', if they are actually after him in the first place but I think that this verse backs up the former. The last two lines also use enjambment which is, as I have already mentioned numerous is a commonly used technique by Bellamy. The next section, I'm not sure if its a chorus or another verse or something in between because it occurs several times and says ' Hold you in my arms, I just wanted to hold,You in my arms', this is quite obviously emphasising Bellamy's love for someone, another example of intense love and space. I don't know if its worth it anymore' This coudl almost suggest to us that he is on the run hence why he wants to forget his enemies. The third and fourth lines are 'Until the end of my life. When people say they are 'chasing the sunset' it means travelling west but here the starlight is in no particular direction, in is unclear and in every direction, and almost random. The next verse, the first line says 'Starlight, I will be chasing the starlight'. This phrase either means the people who care about him or the people who want him dead because friends want him alive and enemies want him dead so it is now unclear who he is trying to escape from, loved ones or enemies. It can suggest that he is trying to forget about 'the people who care if I live or die'. The next lines 'Far away from the memories, of the people who care if I live or die' This is a use of enjambment, a reoccurring literate technique used by Bellamy. The first verse starts with the simple lyrics 'Far away, this ship is taking me far away!' which is relatively self-explanatory as it explains about going away, or going somewhere and his use of 'far away' could suggest that he doesn't know exactly where he is going like the 'new world'. Many songs has mystical ideas about time and space and the modern and the beauty that Bellamy finds in the idea that our universe is infinite. This song is quite a happy tune and I am going to discover the meaning behind ' Starlight' another song building on another reoccurring theme that Bellamy prevails space and time. The album resistance is themed around rebellion and standing up for your beliefs and their next album is rumoured to have been recorded in space on virgin galactic and is to be released in September 2012. One of Bellamy's more famous songs, released in 2006 as part of the hit album ' Black Holes & Revelations' This album focuses more on the abstract side of Bellamy's creative side.
